CHALK ART FESTIVAL

The Butler County Chalk Art Festival is a free, family-friendly annual community event in Morgantown, Kentucky, where participants of all ages use chalk to turn downtown streets into colorful art galleries. Free chalk is provided. expect to find various venders, karaoke and children's activities available.

EVENT

Date: The 10th annual festival takes place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Host: Organized by the Butler County Arts Guild.
Location: 115 W. Ohio St., Morgantown, KY.
Chalk Art Contests day of: judged art contests featuring cash prizes across various age groups (from elementary school to adults -SEE BELOW.
Concurrent car show hosted by Firehouse Pizza running from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m

Have Chalk Will Travel: A free chalk art class is being held in anticipation of the coming Chalk Art festival Saturday, August 15, 2:00 p.m. -4:00 pm.at the BCAG Gallery (115 West Ohio Street Morgantown, KY 42261) All ages welcome. (Children School Age and above welcome -must be accompanied by an adult)

FREE ACTIVITIES

· Karaoke (Sign up at the stage)

· Creative Corner (art activities for the little ones)

· Vendors Alley (food drink and merch)

· Chalk Art Contest (see rules below)

· Where is Muse? (Find muse and talk to her – she is here somewhere)

ACCOMMODATIONS

· Free water available

· A Bathroom is available at the Arts Guild Gallery

CHALK ART CONTEST RULES

Artists

· All children and adults creating chalk art must register as artists at the registration table.

· Registered artists will be given a number that must be written in chalked on the section of the street where they are drawing.

· Please limit your chalk art to your space and try not to walk where others are chalking.

· Free festival chalk will be provided. We prefer you use ours, however, If you brought your own chalk, you may use it IF it is washable and easily removable with water. If you're unsure, please don't use it.

· Artworks must be completed by 1:00 p.m. to be eligible for judging.

Judging

· Winners will be announced at 1:30 p.m.

· Winners must be present at judging or provide a valid phone number to be notified.

· Artwork will be judged in three categories: 6th-8th grade, 9th-12th grade, and adults

· First prize in all categories is $50. The 6th-8th grade and 9th-12th grades also have a second prize of $30.

· Chalk artwork will be judged on:

o First Impression

o Creativity

o Originality

o Skill

o Use of Color
