Open Weave

OPEN WEAVE  (Think...Have Brush Will Travel but for weavers)

At this weekly open weave meetup, our foraging weaver Anna will discuss local plants that can be used to weave beautiful baskets, creative ornaments, abstract sculptures or useful items like napkin holders or coasters.

First, we will discuss and forage material and then explore pliability, shapes, and forms before we get to weave products the group is interested in learning.

Anna’s special interest is using invasive species for weaving baskets. If you get hooked, you will see nothing but basket weaving material growing all around you and soon self- harvested material will take over your whole house! We’ll twist and turn locally abundantly available species like Japanese Honeysuckle or Oriental Bittersweet as well as nice natives like iris leaves and willow.

Open Weave sessions are not consecutive, and you can join anytime.

You can bring projects, questions, baskets, other woven objects and most importantly your passion for weaving with what grows around you. Anna can’t wait to create and explore together with you!
